The Shoreline News was founded in April of
1989 and has since grown to be the LARGEST CIRCULATION COMMUNITY
NEWSPAPER in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
We service Paradise, the fastest growing community in Atlantic
Canada (Population 13,000); Conception Bay South, the largest town in
the Province (Population 23,000); all communities of Conception Bay
Centre from Holyrood to Colliers, and all the communities of St
Mary’s Bay. That is in excess of 16,000 households every week.
We are the PAPER OF RECORD for the communities we serve. In fact
the Town of Paradise recently passed a resolution saying that
all town advertising with the exception of tenders, would be
placed in The Shoreline. Other media would only be used in
special circumstances. This was to ensure that taxpayers were
informed of all variances and discretionary notices.
National statistics and trends show that unlike many daily
papers, the Community Newspapers are growing because they
provide news and information that readers cannot access anywhere
else. Our papers get taken into the homes and are referred to,
on average 4.5 times per week by 3.5 people.
The Shoreline publishes on Saturday. Approximately 50 per cent
of our circulation is done through Canada Post with the
remainder handled through delivery to local retail outlets. Both
systems ensure that we reach in excess of 90 per cent of the
available households in our circulation area. The paper is FREE
to our customers within the controlled geographic area of our
distribution.
We are in our 19th year of publication. We have been used by
local, provincial and national companies to communicate their
message. We are used regularly by various Federal Government
Departments to communicate the details of their various
programs.
The Shoreline also includes a number of local and national
flyers with the paper, on a weekly basis, including Dominion, Sobeys,
Price Chopper, Home Hardware, Home Depot, and several other flyers
on an intermittent basis.
The Shoreline News is independently owned but uses the modern
offset presses of Transcontinental ,under contract, to print the
paper.
We have seven full time employees and six casual employees year
round.
This will give you a “feel” for the paper and demonstrate that
The Shoreline is an excellent vehicle for you to reach the
majority of customers in its coverage area.
